Appeals Court Blocks Trump’s Revised Immigration (Muslim) Ban

The 4th U.S. Circuit Courts blocked Trump’s “revised” Immigration aka Muslim Ban Vill with a vote of 10-3 (NYT).

If you don’t recall, the big question when Trump was elected was whether or not he would keep his campaign promises.  One of the big promises (besides to the Mexican Wall and repealing Obamacare, which are both failing) was his promise to ban Muslims (NYT). This is a great thing, except that he fed into the Right’s Islamaphobic fear and did a “Muslim Ban” earlier this year and disguised it as an Immigration ban oppose to actually fighting terrorism.

Thankfully, that was resolved after a Federal Judge repealed the ban.  Check it out here.

After all this, Trump appealed the 4th U.S. Circuit Courts, which are the same courts that Dylann Roof is currently appealing.  This time, the language was slightly different, urging the fact that many attacks on other countries are from Muslim Extremist and so on and so on.  However, the list of countries that America would’ve potentially baned never attacked America.

#muslimban is not logical unless it is about resources.

Note: The ban would’ve only affected the following companies: Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen.

So now, the courts have blocked this revised bill as well..  They were quoted as stating that, “[the immigration bill] speaks with vague words of national security, but in context drips with religious intolerance, animus and discrimination,” the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, in Richmond, Va. (CNBC)

Jeff Sessions highly disagreed with this decision by stating, “[the executive office] will continue to vigorously defend the power and duty of the executive branch to protect the people of this country from danger.” (CNBC)

Now I’m not sure if the Attorney General for Cobra understands the irony in his statement.  Yes, we need protection from anything that may want to harm us.  But we already have systems in place that protects us from virtually anything “big, brown, and scary”.  The bigger issues arise when the same group that produces more serial killers and actual terrorists are heading an attack against terrorism.

Oppose to creating laws that could properly handle online extremism, which is the root for many attacks, Trump has foolishly decided to further isolate a group of people who have every right to be in this country as everyone else.  9/11 was ONE of the worse things to happen in America, but just because those who lead the attack were Muslims, it doesn’t mean that all Muslims are terrorists.  The same can be said for all white people.  Dylann Roof killed 9 church members in the name of white power, but it doesn’t mean that all white people want to murder black church members.

We don’t need a Muslim ban, we need protection from the crazies in your group Trump and My Name is Jeff.
